Blizzcon Tips

Alice and Pocket LOVE Blizzcon and attend the event EVERY year since 2008. Since a lot of our listening community also enjoy the convention of the year, we have created a SPECIAL Blizzcon 2011 pages where we can open up our comments and post fancy, useful tips for this years banananana-zah!

Blizzcon 2011 will be held on October 21-22 in Anaheim, California and we hope to see YOU there.

Tips of the Trade

  1. Reserve hotels NOW. (Pocket says, Even if you don’t know for sure if you can go–most hotels allow you to reserve through them ahead of time. As long as you let them know at a particular time–depending on each hotel policy–you can usually cancel. Alice says, For cosplayers and people who just don’t plain feel like walking–pick a hotel closest to the Anaheim Convention Center for maximum enjoyment.)
  2. Bring SNACKS! (Nom, nom, nom. Pocket says, Bring non-perishable snacks to the event to avoid snack bar lines and extra expenses. Also, try  and BYOB or store food in your hotel room if you have a fridge. Alice says, For cosplayers this is especially important so you can keep your energy during the day and avoid messing up your costumes/makeup.)
  3. Prepare for the Ticket Dates. (Pocket says, group together and make sure during the time of the sales your whole group each gets a ticket. Also make sure to take time off and be ready at least 20 minutes before tickets go on sale. F5, F5, F5… Alice says, relax and don’t get too stressed out!)
  4. Please, oh please SHOWER. (‘Nuff said)
  5. Pre-plan you schedule for each day. (Pocket sez, Lots to see–so little time! Alice sez, Don’t miss out on your realm meet-up times!)
  6. Bring something to hold stuff in. (Pocket says, Everyone needs Pocket! Alice says, Don’t rely on friend to hold onto your stuff)
  7. DON’T buy tickets if you don’t plan to go. (Pocket sez, Cosplayers would rather have tickets with their names so they can enter the contest. Alice sez, Don’t just buy the ticket for goodies it’s a waste for someone who can actually go!)
  8. Make friends and trade contact info. (Pocket says, Friends = WINNNING. Alice says, Make business cards with your name, cosplay, email, etc to keep in touch with buddies and photographers after the con.)
  9. Keep saving seats to a minimal. There is a right to save a seat for 1-2 people in your party, but a WHOLE row? Really?
  10. Be mindful of the cosplayers. Realize that a cosplayer is a person too and needs to be aware of safety for you and themselves.
  11. Be cautious when purchasing Blizzcon tickets outside of Blizzard sales. Though we don’t advise nor condone people to support scalpers, there are safer ways to get tickets. Always check with your friends and close communities for extra tickets before purchasing on third party sites. Scalpers and scammers alike can take your money and run or raise the prices to ridiculous amounts. If all else fails, come to Blizzcon without a ticket and enjoy the outside-the-con gatherings!
  12. When packing, make sure to leave space for Blizzcon goodies! Especially for cosplayers–don’t pack SO much you have no room for souvenirs to take home!
  13. Don’t OVER plan. (Pocket sez, Make sure you have room to relax and just do whatevs. Alice says, Don’t stress yourself out on missing a few things.)

What to Pack for Your Trip?

  1. An extra pair of socks.
  2. Water bottles.
  3. Previous lanyards, just in case.
  4. Antibacterial hand sanitizer.
  5. Something for developers to sign and a portable digital camera (or phone with camera).
  6. A pair of good, comfy walking shoes.
